What a busy week!  MAP testing, along with our regular curriculum, May Procession, and practicing our poems, has been exhausting.  They were excellent over the intercom, leading a decade of the rosary.  These students are superheroes, after all, so they handled it with vim and vigor.

We are moving right along in all curriculum areas...just 4 more stories in our reading series and one and a half more chapters in math.  Hopefully, I will be able to at least introduce the HF words and vocabulary for our last story because that will bring us to the last couple of days of school.

We also began practicing for the Poets’ Tea by reciting the poems using a microphone.  We’re hoping that Mother Nature will cooperate for this outside activity which will be held on Thursday, May 22nd in the schoolyard at 12:45.  If not, we will set up in the church hall.  I hope you saw the invitation.   Students should have a prop to use while reciting their poem.  If you would like to supply a treat (cookies, brownies), it would be greatly appreciated.  Sometimes, siblings in the school are allowed to join us.  We do have a couple of gluten-free students, so please keep that in mind.

We are continuing to learn about the 50 states.  We’re about a third of the way through. The students love to sing the song!

Next week we will write about some more “special” students in our class.  We only got one done this week.

We will be celebrating the summer birthdays in the coming weeks: Thomas on 5/27, Niall on 5/28, Stephen on 5/29, Mila on 5/30, Teresa on 6/2, Essie on 6/3, Stella on 6/5, Chiara on 6/6 and Ms. Loraine (it’s a big one) on 6/9.

Please send in an orange T shirt for field day.  Make sure your child’s name is on the label.  We will be signing the back of them.  Field Day is on June 4th.  We need a few volunteers  to help our class with bathroom runs and some of the games.  Mrs. Reardon and Mrs. Chiodini have already signed up.  Every class also needs a few volunteers to help fill water balloons.  If you can do this, please see Debbie Tremblay to pick them up.  On field day, you will need to drop them off at the field on the morning of field day.  We will not be staying at the field all day.  We will be leaving after lunch and returning to school to chill out and watch a movie with the kindergarten.

There is no school next Friday, May 23rd and Monday, May 26th. due to Memorial Day.  We remember those who paid the ultimate price in defending our country.

Let’s pray for good weather for our Poets’ Tea.

    Have a great weekend!
